Proavio introduces a new line of 4Gb Fibre Channel storage designed to accommodate the needs of growing digital cinema storage requirements. Building on popularity of it’s award-winning SCSI RAID controller technology, Proavio has developed a next generation RAID controller that raises the industry bar for maximum performance and features. By leveraging over 10 years of development experience and utilizing the maximum capabilities of the RAID engine, Proavio has created the first large-format Fibre Channel array that exploits the full potential of a typical 4Gb Fibre equipped desktop computers.

RS16FS is a rack-ready 3U, sixteen-disk, 4Gb Fibre to SATA disk array with a next generation RAID processor that sets new standards in performance and reliability. A dual SFP design allows full use of native Multi-Path capabilities in Mac OS X and can deliver an excess of 600MB/s when configured in RAID-5 protection. Industry standard SFP Fibre ports support active optical configurations for direct-attached or network deployments. An easy to use browser-based interface allows complete storage control and monitoring from any workstation on the network. Standard features include modular, hot-swap PSU, cooling and disks.

With the addition of native MPIO support, users can easily achieve sustained data rates in excess of 600MB/s with RAID-5 parity protection - ideal for uncompressed 4:4:4 HD video, digital intermediate and high resolution visual effects creation. Proavio has included every feature found in their Enterprise-class products including fully redundant hot-swap PSUs, cross-platform web-based management, hot-swappable cooling modules & disks and a modularized RAID controller that allows for easy replacement in the field.

With a high-speed optical Fibre interface, RS16FS accommodates direct-attached applications for performance as well as SAN attached network configurations for consolidated storage configurations or real-time volume sharing networks. Native MPIO operation allows users to maximize throughput exceeding 600MB/s, ideal for all levels of the post production process. RS16FS compliments any existing SAN platform including Tiger Technology MetaSAN, Xsan, FibreJet and StorNext.
