secure media storage (4.0TB at RAID 0) for any professional
film, broadcast or video production/post-production facility.
ProAVIO’s revolutionary RAID controller supports data
transfer rates suitable for media formats ranging from DV
to uncompressed HD; even 2K Film resolutions can be supported!
Further, UltraStor’s I/O options make the system equally
applicable for either direct attached (DAS) or shared-storage
(SAN) environments.

The ULTRSTOR™ RS8/RS8 HDS has been specifically designed
to operate in “mission-critical” (24/7) environments.
The fully programmable RAID controller can be configured for
virtually any RAID level (0,1,0+1,3,5,10,50) so as to balance
data performance versus protection requirements. Background
data rebuild capability, coupled with support for “hot
spare” data drives, allows the ULTRSTOR™ RS8/RS8
HDS to automatically recover from a drive failure even while
the system remains online. Hot-swappable, redundant components
(drive trays, power supplies and cooling modules) enable system
maintenance without interruption of service. ULTRSTOR™
RS8/RS8 HDS can even automatically notify system operation/maintenance
personnel in the advent of a component failure.

The ULTRSTOR™ RS8/RS8 HDS represents the most performant
video RAID storage solution currently available on the market.
Capable of data transfers speeds in excess of 265MB/s, ULTRSTOR™
RS8/RS8 HDS can easily support real-time playback of 10-bit
uncompressed HD video (1080I). Further, with up to 4TB of
useable hard drive capacity, ULTRSTOR™ RS8/RS8 HDS
can contain over 6.5 hours of this media. Powerful ProAVIO
storage management tools allow for dynamic allocation, re-allocation
and expansion of the available storage capacity.

A variety of interface I/O options are available for the ULTRSTOR™
RS8/RS8 HDS. Ultra320 SCSI connections provide maximum bandwidth
communications directly with a video server/workstation. For
high-performance shared storage (SAN) environments, the ULTRSTOR™
RS8/RS8 HDS can be ordered with a dual-port fibre-channel
interface. Finally, an iSCSI interface option is available
to configure an inexpensive SAN based on a “standard”
Ethernet infrastructure. |
