Projects
that have worked on are Star Wars episode 3 the DVD.
The collector’s edition of Titanic, and all
of the Terminator movies. While using the second ULTRASTOR
for Titanic, the amazing RAID storage was so fast
in GB Ethernet that it allowed his team to use Final
Cut Pro downstairs while in the other office Van was
mounting QuickTime over the network. “Very impressive”
While working in producing for many years Van Ling
has found how important the storage process can be.
Van currently feels that the ULTRASTOR unit is reliable.
“I use the RAID hot swappable drives and the
cold is kept on the shelf which is easier for me to
maintain, overall it is time consuming to access information
and very well organized in a final production.”
Star
Wars:
DVD menu which is fairly intense with footage that
stores full resolution being able to access specific
points, sound effects, images are full. No bathing
having whole movie and fast enough systems is needed
to process this project where the RS2080SA comes into
play.
Titanic:
Van has produced, counter cut and deleted scenes.
All of the material collectible documentaries are
all stored in the ULTRASTOR HDS-8. Compiling all trailers
with 20 tapes pulling in and out of the unit becomes
very convenient to work with. While working with Titanic
Van found that Final Cut Pro was not cutting it, he
needed a more extensive devise to store properly and
format everything smoothly. While transmitting Titanic
streaming back and forth the ULTRASTOR formatted very
well with Avid, this is why the second one was purchased
for future HD and capacity that will be used.
Customer
Service:
The
cost is fair and effective, worth the money because
of time and reliability for the production process.
“Wonderful
experience with customer satisfaction, the unit was
installed in my studio personally at my location and
when other issues came up that had nothing to do with
the systems, Proavio made a point to help figure out
a solution for me.”
